- Nightwing Year One/Nightwing 104
I had to do this in it’s entirety. I’ve said it before, but I love it when the Robins get alone-time with Gordon. This meeting is a little different than any other meeting between Dick and Gordon though.
Then there are Dick’s flips in this. Gordon’s got to know it’s him just by the way he’s flipping around. His caution is understandable though.
Also, I couldn’t not include Barbara’s little comment at the end there. :)
Detective Comics #871
Batman and Robin #2
Two things I wanted to point out.
- “We’ll take the stairs.”
- “Didn’t they used to be taller?”
Dick: Sorry, Commissioner. Got to go break up the kids.
Steph and Damian: *fighting*
Dick: Enough! Both of you two your room right now. *dramatic point*
Steph and Damian: Yes, Papa Bats…
I mean thank you. On all fronts.
I really have nothing insightful to add about these last two pages, other than I love the way its colored. There’s something about the overabundance of red to really highlight how the city’s in flames (it’s in flames because Firefly implanted little incendiary devices in the arms of various Gotham citizens and set them alight all at once). Props to colorist John Kalisz.

Remember what I was saying about Dick finally seeing himself as Batman?
Yeah, he finally thinks of himself as Batman.
really love how SASSY gordon can be when he tries
Detective Comics #871 (Part One of The Black Mirror by Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla)
Thought that this was easily one of the best Batman stories of all time. Showed just how much potential Dick had as Batman.
Detective Comics #881
Favorite part of the comic.
