Every time I think I can’t love George Perez’ take on Dick Grayson any more, I see new work he’s done and fall for it all over again.
George posted the story behind it on his Facebook, but since I know not everyone likes linking directly to there here’s the text…
Yesterday, Carol and I were treated to Crosby, Stills and Nash concert at the Hard Rock Cafe by a dear young friend (and comics fan) Eugene Schnee. Eugen is also a big fan of Dick Grayson, both as Robin and Nightwing. He had asked if I could do a little sketch of the character. This is the piece I gave him as we met him at the Hard Rock. The big smile on his face was especially gratifying! A reaction like that is just one of the many reasons being a comic book artist is so much fun!Whoever Eugen is, I envy him like CRAZY!

The team is off to another world to help Donna figure out her past. But Dickie, where’s your mask?
“I believe you’re thinking about Robin Annual #4. The orphanage is also a point in Batman Year 3.”

This is Tony Daniel’s latest commission that he has dubbed “The Flying Graysons”. So glad I got his autograph at NYCC, he’s an absolute BAMF of an illustrator.

Poor Dickie’s feels hurt. Bruce is in denial.
Wait, am I reading Batman or Jane Austen novel?
Batman #416

PDA at a press conference after she is proven innocent of murder.. Nightwing and Starfire need to get a room. (No doubt they did.)

Eveyone’s been hurt. Even injured Dick manages to look well-coifed and neat.
This was the 80s and comics were less gory than they’ve sometimes beein later years. Less realistic, yes, but much prettier.
