bruce’s idea of expressing his faith in dick’s abilities is to never compliment him
and then casually put him in charge of the justice league in event of his death
also: “he is the best”
aw, bruce
be careful, might turn out that you’re actually not dead and then dick will gleefully tease you about it for forever and a day while not so secretly being pleased as punch

bruce put his cape around dick’s shoulders to comfort him
BRUCE PUT HIS CAPE AROUND DICK’S SHOULDERS

photoset to appreciate bruce’s face when he thinks that dick might be dead
there’s nothing i don’t love about these panels: the bare anguish on bruce’s face (a jarring contrast from his normal impassive and stony facade), the waver in his voice, the fact that his hands are reaching out, as if bludhaven’s an arm’s reach away, that wild and desperate jump and the undisguised horror, and most of all the fact that batfuckingman is begging jason to let him go

The only time I ever feel pride is when I look at Nightwing. Sometimes I think he is the only thing I ever did right. (JLA #73)
omg dick your hair is gorgeous
My favourite thing about Dick and Bruce’s relationship is that they both think that the other one is the the best person that ever lived.
(The second favourite is of course is how when they get into a fight, Bruce pretends he’s a Vulcan and Dick points a lot. And they still love each other the best.)
From the day I started, Bruce and Dick made me feel at home. And after Jason… and especially my dad… Bruce made sure to always treat me like his own son. But even with all his careful and methodical attention—to any younger child—the first born is still the first born.”
